The South Texas International Film Festival believes that all filmmakers deserve an opportunity to prove themselves as artists and that many times they lack a platform to express their creative ideas. This is why the STXIFF is hosting once again “The Pitch”, an event dedicated to filmmakers who wish to pitch their feature film project to a jury of film industry experts.

Submissions are open from June 22, 2018 and must be submitted no later than July 29th, 2018 at 11:59 PM. The projects must be submitted via the online application with their respective PDF documents before the deadline and must comply with the following guidelines:

  1. The online application form must be submitted before the deadline on August 8th, 2018 no later than 11:00 PM along with the $15 entry fee. No project will be accepted after the determined deadline.

  2. The competition is only for feature film projects.

  3. The following documents must be submitted in PDF along with the form:

    1. Feature film screenplay (60-110 pages in standard industry format)

    2. Proof of copyright. The screenplay must be copyrighted by filing with Writer’s Guild of America (WGA)

  4. It is recommended but not required to include the following documents:

    1. Director’s statement (1-2 pages)

    2. Director’s CV or filmography, if any

    3. Top sheet budget for film

    4. Artistic/visual proposal (actors suggested, production design, photography, etc.) Note: include letters of intent for known talent, if any

  5. The selection of projects for competition will be announced before the start of the 4th edition of the South Texas International Film Festival.

  6. The total amount of finalists selected will be three. If selected, up to two members of the production team (e.g. director, writer or producer) must make their own arrangements to attend the event on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 in order to present the project to the Jury.

  7. Each team will have no more than 10 minutes to present the pitch for their project.

  8. The Pitch will be live and open to audience members.

  9. The decision of the selected project will be announced during the event at the Award Ceremony on Saturday, September 8th, 2018. All decisions made by the Selection Committee and Jury will be final and unappealable.

  10. Any other situations not clarified in this document will be evaluated by the STXIFF Board Members and the Jury from The Pitch.

All selected projects will automatically receive two Award Ceremony tickets for the STXIFF where the winner will be announced. The winner of the competition will be awarded a cash prize of $500 and feedback from industry leaders. If there are other questions that require clarification, please contact us at stxiff@edinburglibrary.us. Best of success!
